The Big Brother and the Holding Company fue la banda que mas se acoplo al voz desgarradora de Janis. Nacida en 1943 y fallecida en el 70 Finalizando la escandalosa década de los 60'S. Apoyo entre tantas cosas el movimiento antiracial y el movimiento antiagresion (Guerra de Vietnam).

Su fuerte definitivamente fue el blues! Aunque su carrera abarco desde el Folk hasta el Jazz, también hizo una gran amistad con las drogas hasta su misteriosa muerte.

Este disco salio en el 68 y rápidamente fue disco de Oro, la canción la escribieron (Jerry Ragovoy, Bert Berns).
